Andrew Stockment Awarded the Young Lawyers Division Sandra P. Thompson Award at the VBA Annual Meeting in Williamsburg

Our own Andrew Stockment received the Sandra P. Thompson Award from The Virginia Bar Association Young Lawyers Division.  It recognizes an individual for "outstanding work and long-term service" and is the YLD's highest honor.

YLD Chair Jennifer Ligon remarked, "This year’s recipient has a leadership history with the YLD too long to list in full. I personally have benefited from this person’s service to the YLD in both my role as an officer and in working with him on various projects. Through all of his years as a YLD member and officer, Andrew has faithfully served the YLD and been a true pleasure to work with and learn from."

In the fall of 2012, Andrew was the founding Editor-in-Chief of the inaugural issue of Opening Statement, the YLD’s quarterly publication that has been recognized at the national level by the American Bar Association as the best newsletter for four years in a row, and he continued in that position for several years. Since 2012, Andrew has served as a VBA Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law Section Council Member, and for five years – from 2012-2017, he served as the YLD representative to that section. Over the years Andrew also has served on the VBA Law Practice Management Division’s Executive Committee, and, since 2014, the YLD’s Executive Board (2014-2020). In 2016, Andrew became Secretary-Treasurer of the YLD, subsequently followed by terms as the YLD Chair-Elect (2017), YLD Chair (2018), and, YLD Immediate Past Chair (2019).
